“Better Dead Than Confederate”

One week ago, disturbed teenager Dylann Roof attended a Wednesday Night Bible study at Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Charleston, South Carolina, one of the oldest African American churches in America.

At 9:05 PM, Dylann brutally shot and murdered nine members of the church, in a horrific attempt to start a race war.

In the aftermath of the attack, it was discovered that Dylann Roof was a white supremacist, and uploaded pictures online that depicted him burning the American flag, and posing with the Confederate Flag, a flag that has been seen as a symbol of racism for decades, thanks to supremacist groups like the KKK.

Instead of focusing on the horror of the tragedy, or the memory of the nine that died, the media has instead focused on the Confederate Flag. Facing extreme pressure, the governor of South Carolina, Nikki Haley, vowed that she would push for a resolution that would remove the Confederate Flag from the South Carolina capitol building as soon as possible.

On the face of it, this seemed like a logical move. The Civil War ended 150 years ago, there was really no reason for it to still be publicly endorsed by the South Carolina government as being equal to the American flag. Within days, numerous states across the South were declaring the same policy changes. The Confederate Flag’s time had come and gone, they declared, it is time we move on.

But… It did not stop there. Oh no, indeed. Sears, Wal*Mart, and Amazon all suddenly declared that they would no longer carry Confederate themed merchandise, citing them as offensive. All well and good… But yet they continue to sell Nazi and Communist merchandise? What gives?

Warner Bros. soon jumped on the bandwagon, and declared they would no longer be licensing toys based on the General Lee from from “The Dukes of Hazzard”. Not once has anyone I know of ever claimed to be offended by the car driven by Bo and Luke Duke, so why the sudden animosity?

Unfortunately, the Racist Hysteria was only getting started, but once it did, the Leftist Liberals came out for blood. Suddenly, everything related to the Confederate States of America was evil, and racist. The flag should be banned, the streets renamed, and the monuments defaced and torn down. It was a Witch Hunt.

In the 1950’s, there was a popular saying, “Better Dead than Red”. It perfectly encapsulated the fear and paranoia the United States at large had for all things Communist, and it was a time of intense hysteria. Senator Joseph McCarthy and the House UnAmerican Activities Committee conducted an insane witch hunt, going after anyone and everyone who seemed too “Communist”.

Now, in the 21st Century, America has entered a new hysteria. This time, the witch hunt isn’t for EVIL Communists: instead, the hunt is for EVIL Racists, and the Liberal Left is seeing racism EVERYWHERE.

Thanks to the mass hysteria, Confederate monuments are being defaced, petitions are being made to rename a lake in Minnesota, and CNN has called for the removal of the Jefferson Memorial.

Peanut Butter and Jelly sandwiches are now racist, the General Lee is no more, and there are calls to rename everything from streets, to schools, to forts, so as to not be offensive with the names of EVIL Confederate Slave owners.

History is being twisted, turned into Leftist propaganda, all in an attempt to villify the South, for being EVIL Racists. Democrats, who used the Confederate Flag as their party flag for over half a century, are now placing the blame for the problem squarely on Republicans.

This divisive rhetoric must stop. The Racist Hysteria is NOT about Racism. It is NOT about bringing unity to the land. It’s all about cultural cleansing. The Left wants to white wash and twist our history, and use it against us Southerners. They want to equate our heritage to Nazism, which is sickening. It is little more than fascism.

In the end, nine people died. They were brutally murdered, but instead of focusing on their memory, the Left wants to spread division based on one stupid flag.

Where does it all stop?

Some Titanic Musings

Something I should say right now: I am hopelessly, utterly, completely obsessed with the RMS Titanic.

It’s a fascinating story, to be sure. So many little things, all coming together, to cause a horrific disaster. It’s almost shakespearen in scope. You cannot make this stuff up.

I’ve been fascinated for biggest portion of my life that I can remember. Ever since I was a wide-eyed child, reading about it in a multitude of books, watching innumerable TV specials… I can honestly say it has heavily influenced my life in many ways, and I think I may turn this toward further musings about the great ship and her sisters. There can never be too much information about April 15th, 1912 on the web. This event shan’t be forgotten.

Been A While

Well, hello again, everyone… It certainly been a long time. I can honestly say I have no earthly idea what to do with this blog, so perhaps I’ll just post my ramblings about whatever from time to time. Anyway, I promise to try and update this regularly from now on… If anyone is actually following this, thanks!
